I always thought that freedom of religion implied the right to freedom FROM religion as well. The Bible has absolutely no standing in American law, as was made clear by the intent of the First Amendment (and as was very explicitly stated by the founding fathers in their first treaty, the Treaty of Tripoli, in 1791) and because it doesn't, no one has the right to impose rules upon anyone else simply because of something they perceive to be a moral injunction mandated by the Bible.
If one believes in religious freedom, the recognition that opposition to gay marriage is based on religious arguments is reason enough to discount this argument.
The bible doesn't belong in the Government. Or schools for that matter.
I'll quote the George Carlin, "Thou shalt keep thy religion to thyself."
Not everybody has the same beliefs as everyone else. So it's silly in impose your beliefs on other people who don't share them just to make YOU happy while making THEM unhappy.
Besides, if God created everyone in his own image and likeness, why didn't he create these people who are fighting for gay rights straight? Must mean he's a little gay himself. ;)

A fascinating exploration of early Judaism and the Old Testament that relies on archaeological evidence and literary research to shed light on the origins of monotheism and the ancient Israelites, including who they were and where they came from.

What does the bible say about gay marrige??
The Bible contradicts itself on so many levels it can't even be used as a valid argument.

Religion is sort of like a lift in your shoes. If it makes you feel better, fine. Just don't ask me to wear your shoes.
